2.5 miles 150 meters

Llanymynech

From home to canal through Heritage up the left hand incline. On up to the bench and toposcope. Down Penyfoel, past Mrs Cox’s through the fields to Carreghofa and along the road home. In places lots of snow and quite crisp. AM was very hungover.

20 February

9 miles

Wats Dyke

Exactly one year and five days later and we have finished Wats Dyke. A total of 61 miles. Lots of snow on the ground which made it more interesting.

4 April

Easter Sunday

4 miles 600 meters

From Llangynog up the valley through hanging valley to Tan-y-Craig to the waterfall, up the zigzags, up the valley, across the stream with the new bridge and back down!

29 April

3 miles

Queens Head down the Rednal straight, over the railway (three trains to wave at!) and back through the fields.

24 May

11.5 miles 440 meters

Lake District

Very hot and very very very dry on the tops, no peat bogs, horray! Lots of lapwings low down, golden plover and green shank on the tops. Walked High Serat, Hugh Seat and Sails.

Total...434.5 miles 6,922 metres

Highest Pubs we’ve been to…

The highest pub in Cornwall is Old Inn, St Breward at 720 feet above sea level, have been there with Clare.

Top of Coom or Greedon is 1045 feet above sea level, Irelands highest pub in County Kerry. We have drunk Guinness and camped there overnight.

Warren Inn, the highest pub in Devon, also with the largest beer garden!

The highest pub in Great Britian, Tan Hill Inn, Wales, 1732 feet.

The fourth highest pub in England, Kirkstone Pass Inn, Cumbria, 1500 feet.

Scotland, Wanlock Head Inn, Dumfriesshire, 1440 feet and Northern Ireland, Ponderosa Derry 947 feet.

2008

During the first year of Ronnie and Chris’s 500-mile challenge, they encounter a host of remarkable birds and wildlife—and Ronnie triumphantly scales her first Rhinog.

2009

This year, Ronnie and Chris’s adventures span from the windswept shores of Anglesey to the towering arches of Ribblehead Viaduct, and onward to the rugged beauty of Cornwall.

2010

In 2010, Ronnie and Chris fell just shy of their 500 mile goal but their travels were anything but short on adventure! Ronnie’s fondness for trains beams through, especially on

the day she waved at three in one outing!

2011

Ronnie and Chris didn’t quite reach their 500-mile target thanks to the arrival of a lively new puppy but their adventures still led them far and wide! Along the way, they spotted a barefooted lady, a newborn

foal, seals, and plenty more surprises.

2012

Chris and Ronnie didn’t hit the 500-mile mark again this year. Sky’s operation meant a two week walking pause, and Chris battled a string of injuries. Still, the pair packed in plenty of adventures throughout

the year!

2013

Chris and Ronnie went all over the place in 2013 from the Northern Pennines, to Somerset and Cornwall and lots of place in between! They achieved their 500 Mile goal during the course of the year and scaled more height than Everest!

2014

Though Ronnie’s walking diaries have drawn to a close, what a journey they’ve captured! Her adventures spanned remarkable landscapes and storied paths.
