This week we share with you another of Ronnie’s Lists, this one is all about bridges.  It is unsure why, what, how or when Ronnie wrote this list, are they bridges she went over or saw or did these bridges just fascinate her, is there any correlation between all of these bridges…answers on a postcard please!

  • Clapper Bridge, Pont Sarnddu, Caernarfonshire is 10 feet across and wide enough for vehicles.

  • Parkhouse Bridge, Caergwle, low parapets and V shaped extensions.

  • Britannia Tubular Bridge, Menai Straits

  • Chain Bridge, Llangollen

  • Conwy Suspension Bridge

  • Chepstow Bridge, wrought iron tubes

  • Ironbridge, Coalbrookedale

  • Devil’s Bridge, Aberystwyth

  • Fairy Bridge, Pistyll Rhaeadr

  • Cwm Prysor Railway Bridge

  • Chirk and Trevor Viaducts

  • Transporter Bridge, Newport

  • Across the Monnow at Monmouth, a bridge to cross the river but also to defend the town

  • Drawbridge, Newport Docks

  • Pontypridd Bridge

  • Bridge over the River Unk

  • Llangollen Bridge, until about 1300 the River Dee was crossed by a ford, a sandstone bridge was built in about 1282, what happened?

  • Telford’s Menai Bridge, Lewis Carroll suggested (Alice Through the Looking Glass) that is should be boiled in wine to keep it from rusting
